A private university with locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn has several projects underway. UPC works with the university’s facilities department to manage renovations throughout their various buildings. Almost all of the projects are in existing buildings, often Landmarked, originally designed for other uses and requiring modernization and adaptation for new program requirements.

For this project, UPC is coordinating the renovation of building infrastructure throughout an 11-story building. Multiple research and clinical laboratory renovations and upgrades on four floors and the roof are being performed.

The project requires intricate phasing in an occupied landmarked building with ongoing classes, research, and clinical applications. The building structure includes cast iron columns and terracotta arch floor assemblies. The project also required Landmarks approval for window replacement and façade restoration work.

UPC is providing comprehensive project management services through design and construction as well as managing the budget. All work is done in coordination with the university’s internal support staff.
